RESEARCH INTERESTS:

  • Diversity, distribution, phylogeny and host specificity of crustacean copepods (Copepoda) symbionts of marine invertebrates. Origin and evolution of the order Siphonostomatoida, historical and zoogeographical relationships of this order with other orders of copepods are the most intriguing questions for me.

  • DNA-barcoding of copepods and their hosts (corals, cnidarians and echinoderms).

  • Diversity and microhabitats of Copepoda from deep-sea hydrothermal vents and cold seeps.

  • Patterns of limb development in different orders of copepods and other groups of crustaceans. Understanding the patterns of limb development in major groups of copepods, as well as other crustaceans, is necessary to interpret homologies of limb segments and to test hypotheses about copepod evolution and relationships of copepods with other crustaceans.
